You might be thinking this is just another mom blog.  But no it’s not! Well, I hope it isn't.  Forever Bebes was born from my desire to share with you my journey as a 43year old new mom that has gone through several losses but with hope and determination came out on top with a beautiful and healthy baby girl.  Continue reading in the next section to find out about my losses and what I did about it.  So not only is it about how I detoxed my life and body before and after being pregnant but the fun part of actually being a new mom.  Here are just a few specific ideas about my blog.

You may ask what is the significance of the name of my blog, FOREVER BEBES.  Well, I think we can all agree that our babies, no matter how old they will get they will be our babies (bebes) forever.   

My Continuous Journey

One of the best things that has ever happened to me was becoming a mom.  I always knew that motherhood was something I truly wanted and I thought that when the time came I wouldn't have any issues.  I thought that it would be easy.  Boy was I wrong!  Becoming pregnant was never a problem.  The issue was staying pregnant.  Before my baby girl came along, all healthy and perfect, we had four losses.   I was 40 after my second loss and I was determined to find out what was happening to my body.  Typically, OBGYNs would suggest a fertility doctor after the third miscarriage but I bypassed that thinking since I wasn’t a spring chicken or young in terms of motherhood.  I had a full hormone and genetic testing done.  The results were surprising.  It turned out I had a blood clotting disorder that when pregnant could cause a blood in the placenta and then a miscarriage.  The solution for that was daily injections on the abdomen of Lovenox (not cheap).  I also tested positive for one copy of a  genetic gene mutation called MTHRF or methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase and my partner also tested postive for MTHRF but for two copies.  This genetic mutation can cause several things to happen in the body but in terms of pregnancy, it reduces the ability of your body to convert folic acid into a usable form.  We all know that folic acid or folate is extremely important for the health of an egg or embryo and that a lack of folate can cause neural tube defects such as down syndrome, spinal bifida and other syndromes and disorders.  Also, in women it can cause infertility, miscarriage, preeclampsia and much more. Since people with MTHFR cannot convert folic acid into a usable form it is important to eat a healthy balance diet and even to supplement with folate (5-methyl THF) and B vitamins.  I had already started taking prenatal vitamins without folic acid (synthetic form) after reading Dr. Fuhrman’s book, Eat to Live and had introduced his prenatal vitamins without folic acid into my daily regimen along with 5-methyl THF (natural form of folate).  We thought for sure our time had arrived for a baby.  The third time I stayed pregnant but his time for only 20 weeks.  Our baby boy was riddled with problems; from Trisomy18, spinal bifida, water on the brain and clubbed hands and feet.  The fourth loss was at 5 weeks. Two things I still had after all these losses was hope and a determination.  So I dove into doing more research on how to improve my egg quality.  After doing more research I found out that people with MTHFR have difficulty eliminating toxins from their body.  I thought it would be most beneficial that I detox my body and change my lifestyle drastically.
