Earlier I wrote a post called 30 Minimalist Challenge for Moms and in that post I suggested that you take a few minutes and get rid of items you haven't used and that aren't good for you. A couple of years ago when I was trying to get pregnant I actually threw everything out, did some research on the products I was using and what to replace them with. These are the non-toxic daily beauty products I use that will get you started on minimalist and healthy beauty regime. They are free of these harmful ingredients: triclosan, SLS, formaldehyde, parabens, unnatural fragrance and many more. If you would like to learn more about these toxic ingredients, the Huffington Post has a very informative article about them.

Non-toxic Body Wash
You can't loose with using Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Liquid Soap. It is 100% certified organic, comes in a recycled container and the best of all it's all natural. There are none of those toxic ingredients mentioned above. It would leave a film on your skin, it will last for a couple of months (dilute in water) and the best thing about it is perfectly safe to use on babies and children. You can choose from the unscented Dr. Bronner's soap to other non-toxic natural scents such peppermint, citrus and other scents. I switched to the unscented baby liquid soap after becoming pregnant and we all use it. I actually use it as a shampoo for my daughter, to shave my legs (ejejej) and use it as a natural cleaner on surfaces. One thing to remember is to dilute it with water. You can also buy the smaller 4 oz. bottle, try out and after it's gone refill have with water and half with liquid soap. It will last for a while.
Non-Fluoride Tooth Paste
Another item we use we everyday and actually more than once a day, is toothpaste. You may think that there isn't anything wrong in toothpaste but the U.S toothpaste contain fluoride, silica and other substances that can be to harsh for teeth and not to mention if it goes into your blood stream. I know most people, especially dentists believe that fluoride is the best thing ever. So me saying to avoid fluoride toothpaste might be a hard pill to swallow. It's already in our drinking water so why do we need any more. And why would you want to give something to your child or your family that has a warning label. If you would like to read more about fluoride, check out this website. This tooth paste is made of aloe vera, tea tree oil and other natural ingredients. Now, if you want to whiten your teeth you can use activated charcoal which is easy to use and not expensive at all. All you need to do is wet your tooth brush and open one tablet on your brush and brush away.
I finally came to change my deodorant after having several miscarriages. This was the one thing I really didn't want to change since the deodorant I was using was working so well and had been using for over 35 years. But it wasn't a natural or chemical free deodorant. Just the thought of all those non-safe ingredients being used on my defenseless armpits makes me gringe now. First I tried a natural deodorant that I found on Etsy, but I didn't like the texture. Then I found this stone natural deodorant. The odd thing about this deodorant is that you have to wet the top before putting it on but it does work. Now what do I mean by "work"? Well, you probably won't get stinky but it won't stop you from getting wet pits...armpits that is. It just a small price to pay to have those pits chemical free!
100% Natural Face Moisturizer
Before I started on my chemical free beauty regime journy, I was using Ponds moisturizer and a Neutragena makeup remover. I had been using Ponds since I was a teenager and even my mother used. Except for the fragnance, Ponds Cold Cream wasn't completely bad but I was in search of something completely natural and with one ingredient to use as a moisturizer. How hard could it be to find that product? It turned out that it was pretty easy! I first tried organic coconut oil but the problem with that was that I really didn't want to smell like a coconut all day. Then I found Argan Oil. I had never heard of it. I quickly purchased some and loved it. Sure, after you put it on your face you will look like you fell into a tub of oil but after a couple of minutes it soakes in you doesn't look oily at all. This is the one I currently use, Viva Naturals 100% Organic Argan Oil. Besides using it as moisturizer I also use it to remove the little makeup I wear. Other uses include: cuticle moisturizer, hair repair, and dry skin.
If you have never heard of argan oil, no worries. I had not either. Argan oil comes from kernals of the argan tree which is originally from Morocco. Besides having used argan oil in cosemetics, Moroccans also use it in their food to add flavor in their salads and pastas and use a bread dipping oil.
Paraben and Phthalate Free Shampoo
When it came to washing my hair which I only do two to three times a week, I wanted to use a shampoo that was paraban, phthalate and synthetic fragrance free. After researching and reading alot of shampoo labels I came across this one, Acure Argan Oil Shampoo. Besides not having those specific items mention previously, it is also sulfate free, cruelty free and 100% biodegradable. You can't loose with this shampoo and if you have colored hair it is also color safe.
So here you have it! There are so many ways to live a minimalist and toxic free life. This is just a small start that can make a great impact in the long run but most importantly it can make an impact on the short run on those precious eggs we carry. So if you are trying to get pregnant or just want some chemical free products try these! I promise you that you will LOVE them!
