Beach Essentials For Kids

What to Take to the Beach -

An Essential Family

Beach Packing List

Going to the beach during the summer months can create one of the best memories your children will remember for the rest of their lives. But going to the beach unprepared can make it memorable for different reasons. It’s always best just to take the essentials. Walking on the sand while carrying a bunch of items or dragging a heavy cart isn’t any fun! We aren’t a family that takes a bunch of items to the beach. We only take the essentials and even recently downsized our cooler.

  1. Beach Cooler Bag and Water Bottles

You can’t go to the beach without some drinks, snacks and even lunch. We use to carry a large cooler to the beach for our family of three but it was just too bulky. So we decided to downsize and carry a smaller cooler for our drinks and snacks. It was perfect! It’s the beige cooler below. It has pockets on the sides and a top pocket for dry snacks. Just perfect! The larger cooler we leave in the car with our lunch items. Don’t forget water bottles for the kids. Stay hydrated.

2. Sunscreen

One of the most important items for a beach vacation is sunscreen. I know it sounds trivial but starting sunscreen at a young age will get your kids used to the idea of protection as they grow. Not only do we need to protect our kids but we as parents should also use sunscreen. Here are the three sunscreens we took in a ziplock bag this summer vacation.

3. UVA Clothing

4. Beach Towels

Beach towels are a basic need for any beach trip so why not buy a cute, fun and cozy towel.

5. Beach Chairs

I think kids beach chairs are optional. It all depends on your kids. I know my 6 year old spends most of her time in the water or by the shoreline and when she does came in from the water for a break or snack she prefers to sit on the beach blanket even though we have a cute pink chair for her.

6. Beach Water Toys

There are so many options for toys and accessories to take to the beach that I just listed a couple below.

7. Kids Water Shoes

There are so many benefits to water shoes. It’s best to keep those feet protected especially if the sand is hot! Trust me walking on hot sand can be painful. Also, lately, there have been cases of parasites or worms in the sand that can get in through the soles of your feet. Yuck!!

8. Beach Bags

I know there are those that love the beach buggies but we prefer the minimalist way. Take only the essentials. Walking on sand is hard enough! Here are a couple of large beach bags for your essentials.

9. Beach Blankets

A basic beach essential, the beach blanket. Here a couple large ones. The first beach blanket is the one we use at the beach. It compact, folds easily and water resistant.

10. Beach sun tents

We don’t use tents on the beach but I know a lot of people love these. So I wanted to add a couple.

Going to the beach is a fun experience but being prepared makes it more enjoyable and relaxing and less stressful. Being in the moment and creating those unforgettable moments are the best and the thing that your kids will remember long after the perfect tent or beach chair is long gone. Enjoy your beach trip with your kids!!
